How do support coordinators work?
For anyone wondering: your support coordinator isn't there to check up on you, they're there to help with whatever you want to work on — benefits paperwork, appointments, goals, or just a regular friendly chat. You set the pace. Ask them anything.
Community garden work day — Saturday
We're planting tomatoes and herbs in the Cedar House garden this Saturday morning. No experience needed and gloves are provided. It's a really nice way to meet people from the other houses. Coffee and snacks afterward!
Free local resources I keep coming back to
Sharing a few resources that have genuinely helped: the public library has free computer access and printing, the community health clinic on 5th does walk-in appointments, and the food bank near Cedar House restocks on Thursdays. Reply with yours and I'll keep a running list.
Welcome! Tips for your first week
Moving into supportive housing can feel like a lot at once. A few things that helped me: introduce yourself to your house coordinator early, label your food in the shared fridge, and don't be shy about joining the Sunday community dinner. We've all been the new person. You've got this.
